2012/2013 Slate of Officer Candidates
Delegate: Shawn Hau, CSP, ARM
Shawn Hau is currently a Loss Control Consultant with United Heartland. He is responsible for providing safety consultation to clients located in Northeast Wisconsin. Before working out of the Green Bay area, he was a Regional Account Consultant in Downers Grove, IL, where he was responsible for coordinating loss prevention service delivery for his region.
Shawn is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion/Wellness and Safety from UW-Stevens Point. Shawn served as the Chapter’s President during the 09/10 and 10/11 program years.
President: Gwendolyn Arps, CSP
Gwendolyn Luscavage Arps is a Risk Control Consultant for Aon Risk Services. Ms. Arps has over 15 years of experience in safety having worked for nationally recognized companies United Parcel Service, Levi Strauss & Co, and Liberty Mutual Group as well as fall protection industry expert Hy-Safe Technology.
Gwen earned her BA in Biology and Psychology at the University of Memphis and has earned her Certified Safety Professional designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Gwen served as the Chapter’s Vice-President during the 09/10 and 10/11 program years.
Vice President: James Lange, CSP
Jim Lange is currently the Safety Manager for Clearwater Paper’s Neenah Facility. He has experience in many aspects of safety, including General Industry and Construction. He is an OSHA Authorized Trainer for both General Industry and Construction and is a qualified instructor for confined space and trenching and excavation.
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Master’s of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College. He is a Wisconsin licensed Emergency Medical Technician and holds the Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. He is currently serving as the Vice President for the Nicolet Chapter.
Secretary: Tara M. Johanek
Tara is currently a Corporate Project Safety Specialist for Kohler Company. She is responsible for corporate safety including both nationwide and internationally to assist facilities in safety compliance and training programs. Tara has over eight years of experience in both construction and general industry and has also been an OSHA Outreach trainer for 10 and 30 hour training courses. In addition, she has done Workers’ Compensation Management, a Confined Space Trainer, Behavior Based Safety and a Powered Industrial Vehicle instructor among many others.
Tara earned her BS in Health Promotion & Wellness and Safety & Health Protection at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. She is currently serving as the Chapter’s Secretary.
Treasurer: Mark Dewitt, CSP
Mark is employed by NewPage as Safety Supervisor at the Stevens Point Mill which manufactures specialty coated papers. Mark has 25 years of experience in industrial safety involving safety compliance, training, loss prevention, fire prevention, confined space rescue, safety audits, OHSAS 18001, etc. Mark is a Certified Safety Professional, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Marketing and is a Profession Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
Mark, an Eagle Scout, has served the Boy Scouts of America in many leadership positions for the past 22 years. Mark has served the ASSE Nicolet Chapter as the Newsletter Editor (1999/2000), Chapter Secretary (2000/2001), Vice President (2001/2002), President (2002/2003), Chapter Delegate (2003/2004), 2nd Past President (2004/2005), and Chapter Treasurer (2005-2012).
